CARA's Kit. Heard about it? Seen it? Now, let's practice using it!

Conference Year:

2013

Primary Speaker name:

Join the author of CARA's Kit - a tool to assist you with Creating Adaptations for Routines and Activities for children birth through age five - and learn how this tool can be used in your setting. Adaptation interventions function as a “bridge” or a mediator between the skills that a child can currently perform and the requirements or expectations of a routine or activity. When there is a mismatch between a child’s current abilities and the requirements of an routines or activity, adaptation interventions may allow a child to participate fully even without being able to perform all the required skills.  This session will include hands-on use of the CARA's Kit Preschool and Toddler versions.  It is appropriate for anyone with interest in using adaptations to promote children's participation in everyday early childhood learning opportunities. Although it is not required in order to participate in this session, if you have a Kit bring it with you! Additional handouts will be provided.
